3D VISUALIZATION AND SIMULATION TO ENHANCE NUCLEAR LEARNING
| By L3 MAPPS
The nuclear power industry is facing a very real challenge that affects its day-to-day activities: a rapidly aging workforce. For New Nuclear Build (NNB) countries, the challenge is even greater, having to develop a completely new workforce with little to no prior experience or exposure to nuclear power. The workforce replacement introduces workers of a new generation with different backgrounds and affinities than its predecessors.

Directional Control Valve
| By Eugen Seitz AG
Directional Control Valves (DCV) are used to position the control rods as a part of the GE control rods drive system. DCV type 2538 fits exactly into the existing mounting configuration of the GE Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). Flow control / throttle of DCV has a finer adjustment range than the original solution (14 instead of 8 turns), and can be almost fully closed. Once the flow rate is adjusted, the exact position can be firmly secured.

AVKOSEAL® - Cold Flow Resistant PTFE Sealing Tape
| By AVKO
It is well known that the standard PTFE, that does not have porous structure and is either moulded or extruded, has some bad mechanical characteristics such as very low tensile strength and low resistance to cold flow. The cold flow, especially when pressure is applied, is a particularly serious problem for standard PTFE seals because they tend to flatten under the stress which in time reduces their sealing efficiency. That is why, despite of its exceptional qualities, PTFE is mainly used in situations where high tensile strength and resistance to cold flow are not required.

Enhanced Power Conversion: Integrating AC and DC Power with High-Quality Filtering
| By CE+T Power
Many organisations are encountering problems with the dual power source structure that has arisen with the growth in critical AC loads. It is expensive and complex to maintain two separate “power chains” (AC & DC). Moreover, the UPSs typically used with AC loads have a high total cost of ownership (TCO) and a relatively short lifetime.
